Formative assessment as teaching evaluation

Formative assessment will also give the tutor feedback on their own teaching, enabling them to adjust the content and methods along the way. This can be done, for example by:

• conducting a simple poll among students to show their preliminary understanding or level of knowledge
• asking: What is most unclear? (The muddiest point): The tutor asks the students individually or together to write down and submit information about something they find unclear. This kind of exercise also creates an awareness of where they stand in relation to learning outcomes.
