6: Learning activities and resources
Didactic considerations
Digital tools are selected for several reasons:
- They can help the student understand what is to be learned (learning outcome descriptors).
- They support the student in achieving the described learning outcomes (learning activities).
- They can help determine whether the student has achieved the expected learning outcomes, or to what extent (assessment).
Tutors should make conscious and well-considered choices of learning activities and which digital tools to use. The following informal rule of thumb can be useful when planning this:
MACVICE
Are the activities we choose Motivating, Activating, Concrete and Varied? Do they encourage both Individual work and Collaboration? E reminds us that we must remember to Evaluate.
