Flipped classroom
In a flipped classroom approach, the teaching is turned on its head so that the student is introduced to the subject matter before the teaching session. When the tutor meets the students, time is spent actively on problem solving, discussions, cooperation and supervision.
The idea is that the students acquire basic knowledge of a topic, theory etc. before they meet in person (lecture, seminar), and that the time the tutor and the students have together can be spent on quickly getting to grips with the material. In this way, classic dissemination activities are moved out of the classroom, freeing up time for interaction and active learning.
It is important to make it clear that the student is expected to have prepared before they come to the face-to-face teaching session.
